National Academy of Inventors FAQ

The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) selects a group of fellows each year from research universities, governmental and non-profit research institutes worldwide. The NAI is a member organization made up of over 4,000 Inventor Members and Fellows spanning more than 250 institutes worldwide, including NIH. Its purpose is to encourage inventors with patents issued from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), enhance the visibility of technology innovation, and help to translate the inventions of its members to the benefit of society.

Who can I contact at the NIH if I want to be nominated to the NAI?

Any eligible inventor may contact their Technology Transfer Office if they are interested in pursuing a nomination.
