Prior to joining the NIH, Dr. Mitzelfelt was a technology analyst in the Office of Technology Commercialization at the University of Maryland, College Park. Before starting his career in technology transfer he was a postdoc and intern in the technology transfer office at Emory University. Dr. Mitzelfelt obtained a Ph.D. in Medical Science with an advanced concentration in Neuroscience from the University of Florida where he studied the interplay of aging, chronic pain, and chronic opioid administration. He also received a B.S. degree in Honors in Neuroscience from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.
